The New World

Random environment sketches, didn't really have anything in mind when I started this, except that I wanted it to be more architectural.

Animation - Poster Design Mock-up

Graphic design, I will stab you in the face. You give me such a headache. If I somehow manage to land a job in you instead of my chosen field, I will end you. Sincerely, Me.

Still Can Tattoo, take 20

I'm going to get this design hammered out by summer, dammit. Working with the hourglass, to make it look more like an hourglass. Now it actually looks like an hourglass, but it's distracting exponentially more from the rest of the design. Sigh.

Cower - Containment Environment

Another environmental sketch! I'll be able to do more in three weeks, but I'm going to try to do at least one a week until that point in time. We'll see. This is an idea for a more organic type of containment facility that will eventually be raided. More idea gibberish below! Take it or leave it.

"We were together, at first. They had us held together in dingy open spaces, claustrophobic for the number of us there -- but at least we were together. We could talk, but mostly we didn't. They slipped us drugs, so some of us stopped eating. That's when there were riots, whispers of rebellion, of revolt. That didn't stand. They separated us out into individual pods -- these solitary bubbles in which we cannot speak to each other, can't even see each other. Let me out of here. Get me out of here. We'll obliterate you."

Animation Rough Draft

Two weeks and counting! The timing is right on this, I just need to fix all the little glitches, and add more actual animating. I can't wait 'til this is done and I get to work on concept art again -- fun as this is.

Props to the Musician. You're awesome.

EDIT: We appear to be having technical difficulties. This'll be up and running by Tuesday!

Cower - The Salts

More water! I really tried to draw this as dry and dusty...again. The water just keeps sneaking in! Maybe that means it should stay. Or maybe I need to just stop drawing water. One or the other. The next won't have water in it. Promise. I think. These're meant to be the Salt Plains -- only, flooded. Treacherous, treacherous for non-swimming beings.
Also, my environments turn out much better when I'm working in greyscale, I think. I tend to go either color overload, or muddy (another kind of color overload!), when I'm working straight into color. And, it's slower. So I'm going to stick with greyscale for the moment.

Cower - Waterscape

Finally, a new update. I've been so swamped with this animation, but I'm super excited about it (if you haven't noticed). It was really nice to take a break and do some Cower work, finally. I have a bunch of ideas swimming around in my head, waiting to get onto the page (or into a .psd, as it were). This is just a quick sketch of the invasion/home planet environment. I don't know where the water came from, it was going to be dry and dusty! I'll do a concept of what the planet looked like pre-invasion and/or get rid of the water thing entirely and redo the invasion, as well. That's the point of concept art, right? Next up is of the containment units, though.
Conceptual thoughts below. Use or doing use at your discretion, Writer! These are just rambling ideas of the Artist while they were at work.

And then came the rain. It came with them, with their terrifying flock of ships. It stayed long after they had taken all the other cows, young, and a handful of bulls. We had never seen so much water in one place before. None of us knew how to swim. They left the bulls and the elderly and the ill there to die. Our ships couldn't take all the water, they were used to the perfect, dry, dusty world we were all accustomed to, that none of us would ever know again. Could we ever fix this?
The Salt Plains have turned treacherous -- there doesn't seem to be flooding there, but there are many pits of quicksand, almost indistinguishable from solid ground. Many of the ones who weren't lost initially have since drowned in the Pits. Such awful deaths. Such awful cries. We have to make it beyond the Salts, though. There are ships there that still might be able to fly, rocky land there that they still might be able to take off from. We have to keep trying. They brought the rain.

Animation Rough/Animatic

This is a rough, a little past the point of an animatic, for my animation final. It looks like it's going to be 2:22ish, timewise. I wanted it to be a little bit longer, but I'll work with what I can manage. You don't need to watch this, it's just to get the timing right -- mostly it's just for me and the musician. Did I mention I found a musician?!
